Adjust? u.s. troops are spoeds to, if there s no agreement, out by the end of the year. if we don t have a new government until summer, that doesn t leave a lot of time for the united states to shift gear and stay on the ground and resume this training role. unclear how many troops would stay behind. the commander in this country says 10,000 to 12,000. richard engel in afghanistan, thank you for your reporting. still ahead, pushed out by protesters after just 11 days on the ground. mozilla s new ceo stepping down after his position on gay marriage. it s one of the things we thought you should know this morning. and pulled over while driving drunk, well, there is a new app for that, if you can believe. i ll talk to the creator of an app called, oh, crap app. yes, you just press the button, it will record your conversation with police. it even has its own blood alcohol calculator, and you can

I think he jays recalibrating the approach in mali. he wants to use more indigenous forces and turn it over to more our training role, rather than more american boots on the granted there. i think he is signal that this large american occupation of places like afghanistan and iraq has to be a thing of the past. i want to make sure that you both weigh in on benghazi. we continue to learn more information. the house has played a major role with several hearings, trying to get to the bottom of what we know, a timeline for what happened and who knew what when. congressman thornberry are you satisfyd? what pieces of information, if any, are still lacking for you? i think there continue to be questions what happened before, what happened during special what happened after the attack in benghazi. as a matter of fact, we were both in a lrg this week where i learned new things about what went on that day. and whether it s exactly twho denied the repeated requests for

Take arabic, they take french. do you believe that we could see a day where young men and women come home in boxes from this region? well, sadly, luke, we ve just seen that day. there were four brave americans more so, yeah. killed in benghazi. there were three recently killed in this terrorist incident in algeria. i think it s important for us to focus on a training role and a support role for u.s. armed forces, and recognize that we have a positive model as secretary clinton reminded us, in what s happened in somalia. in the last two years in somalia, a regional african-led force that is predominantly ugandans, kenyans, ooethiopians has successfully invaded and taken it back from al shabaab. al shabaab sounds an awful lot like aqim. they were making a lot of money

You heard him in that answer there. that came through lloyd and clear. if they were playing cards, and we know he lots of to play poker and spades, those are his two favorite games, he doesn t think it would improve anything. as he pointed out, he shot one round of golf with the speaker, and it didn t mean that the negotiations went any better. that s the point. one round, and i ve heard him say, hey, you should be doing you should use your golf outing every other week to be wooing some member or doing that. he doesn t. well, we ll have to leave it there. chuck todd, thank you so much. chris alissa and susan paige. the united states and afghanistan, meanwhile, are accelerating the transition from u.s. combat mission to a training role as they prepare for the u.s. exit in 2014. at a joint press conference with afghan president hamid karzai on friday, president obama defended the change of mission. we went to afghanistan because 3,000 americans were

The hands of president hamid karzai right now. and the only person outside the u.s. government who has talked to him at length on this subject any time recently is now our guest. joining us is atia abawi. atia had an exclusive and sitdown interview with president karzai in kabul last month. great to have you i don t here. great to be on. thank you, rachel. in terms of a potential agreement between the u.s. and afghanistan, for a long-term presence for u.s. troops, what from talking to karzai, what matters more to him, the number of americans who are still in the country or the circumstances under which they re there, where they are and under what law they re subject to? i think what matters to president karzai most from our interview was the circumstances, really, that he wants the americans there in a training role. and on the outlier, he does want them to fight the insurgency, which he says in pakistan. he hopes the americans will be able to their special operation
