KASSON, Minn. - The pandemic has been tough on small businesses, but one southeastern Minnesota native is deciding now is the right time to launch her unique gift shop in Kasson.
Smiling Moose Owner Kim White owned a gift shop in Alaska for 13 years.
When the cruise industry slowed because of COVID, White thought it was time to go back to her roots and bring her business to Kasson.

I m a fan of 2021 so far. We ve got concerts happening again (and free tickets to Blues Traveler if you missed that), COVID vaccine is available for almost everybody, and new businesses opening up all over Southeast Minnesota. One of the latest businesses to open their doors is the Smiling Moose in Kasson,Minnesota.
Back in January, I shared the news that Kim and Steve White were planning to open a new store called the Smiling Moose . The coffee shop is still under construction but the store is officially open at the old HyVee Pharmacy building at 408 West Main Street.

If you are on social media, you ve likely seen the image of Senator Bernie Sanders wearing homemade mittens and a disposable mask inserted into every picture you can imagine. Just as popular as the image, are his mittens, which were made from recycled sweaters by a teacher in Vermont.
