Saskatoon’s city administration recommends extending the protected bicycle lanes on Victoria Avenue almost a kilometre, from Eighth Street all the way to Taylor Street.
The $6.3-million proposal also contemplates narrowing the centre median, including the removal of trees, to maintain most of the street parking along the corridor.

Protected lanes are necessary to ensure safety for cyclists of all ages and abilities due to the speed and volume of traffic on the north-south avenue, a city report states.
