this is what democracy looks like. that was just one of the rallying cries as thousands of protesters poured into the streets across the u.s. last night, expressing outrage over the grand jury s decision not to indict the officer who put eric garner in a choke hold in st statten island, new york. they staged sit-ins and die-ins and in some cities created traffic backups that stretched for miles. in at least a dozen cities coast to coast, demonstrators railed against excessive police force and what they see as the uneven levels of justice. in new york city, hundreds of demonstrators took their protests beyond the streets. they poured into macy s in harold s square and another wildly popular shopper s destination, the apple store on fifth avenue. and they were there to stage die-ins. demonstrations that ended up being very brief, but peaceful.

people i knew, were scurrying all over the city of los angeles looking for this. it caused traffic backups. that s what i find weird. i don t like that kind of fervor of people scrounging, trying to get what s left of money. what happens if two or three or four, five people find an envelope at the same time? is it well, in the hollen beck area of los angeles yesterday, which is an area that is not affluent, they did have to call police to make sure nothing more was going to happen when people found this money. for now, it looks like a fun game but i don t feel like if we re on the verge of something weird here. last word. definitely does sound weird to me. i think there are better ways to get the message across of being altruistic and doing more for your brothers and sisters. i don t think this social experiment is the way to go. a lot of food banks out there. jeff gardere, nischelle turner, really appreciate it.
