A delegation from Botswana High Commission in India visited the Surat Diamond Association (SDA) to invite diamond unit owners to start operations in Botswana. The Botswana government is focusing on increasing cutting and polishing of rough diamonds to generate employment. The delegation offered participation in auctions and direct sales of rough diamonds to the units in Botswana. Concerns about safety, security, and job loss were raised by city's diamond unit owners during the meeting.
