Theyve been fighting the fire for the last couple of hours. Traffic, of course, always when theres Something Like this, was backed up, two lanes eastbound were blocked for a while by fire equipment. A lot of traffic coming from both sides of the bay, we had traffic coming from the San Fransisco side, from the 49ers game, people going to the east bay and people in the east bay, i dont know if the raiders game is over yet or not but theyre going to have to come back through this as well. The only serious consequence we understand was the loss of a lot of vegetation here which is a lot of those bay trees and a lot of oily eucalyptus trees, and at one point the fire was moving from City Property up to federal property. Reporter the fire burning in and around Yosemite National park is devouring its way through the forest, becoming one of the largest wild fires in californias history. Hello. Se seal in a matter of a couple hours, it crossed three Mountain Ridges and was within a Mountain Ridge and a half of the lodge. Her barn is gone. The fire has destroyed at least four homes and threatened more than 5500 more. One of the main routes leading into yosemite remains closed and just a few miles away, the fire is still raging and leaping across the roadway. The wild fire is even threatening San Francisco utilities. The city owns power lines near the fire. And flames are within miles of the reservoir, which supplies 85 of San Franciscos water and some of its power. The city says the Water Quality remains safe, although it fears contamination from ash.
