At first, it looked like a chunk of ice. But the sound of impact proved otherwise. It sounded like a gunshot hit my window, said Tracie Moonen, of Clarkston, describing the sound made when a piece of concrete hit her windshield while driving on Interstate 75 with her daughter, Kassidy. I don t know where my eyes were but she said something, I looked briefly at her and the next thing we knew it hit and we were screaming.
On a route she has taken on a daily basis for years, Moonen was struck by a falling piece of concrete off the bridge of Exit 93, where northbound I-75 meets Dixie Highway. Operating on pure shock, Moonen said she was able to calmly navigate to the side of the four-lane highway and call 911.
