With the holidays approaching not only do we get to celebrate our own holiday traditions, but we also can expand our knowledge and teach our children about other holidays and traditions from around the world. From Hanukkah to Christmas to Kwanza to Diwali, there are many children’s books at Belleville Public Library that celebrate holidays and traditions.
If you are not sure where to start, check out Celebrations Around the World by Katy Halford. This book will take you on an adventure full of engaging illustrations and fun facts about festivals, holidays and celebrations from around the world, both religious and non-religious. From Dongji the Korean festival of midwinter, to Bastille Day, a national holiday in celebration of forcing King Louis XIV off the throne in 1789 France, to Las Fallas, a spring festival celebrated in Valencia Spain, this book has it all. A print copy is available at Belleville Public Library or as an eBook on Overdrive.
