NCPA’s senior director of professional affairs, Lisa Schwartz, PharmD, participated in “The Big Picture from Pharmacy Trade Associations” at the Healthcare Distribution Alliance’s Traceability Seminar in Washington, D.C. Along with APhA and ASHP, Schwartz discussed pharmacy readiness for an interoperable, electronic tracing of prescription drugs at the package level and other operational issues for DSCSA compliance. The effective date for that requirement remains Nov.
The pharmaceutical supply chain is not where it needs to be as the DSCSA deadline approaches. A new approach is necessary to ensure the safe and secure delivery of medicines come November 2023.
