Covid film urges Southampton residents to follow rules

YOUNG people from across the south have turned their hand to creating films in an effort to urge their peers to continue keeping themselves and their communities safe from the spread of Covid-19. As the further easing of restrictions are eased, the films are being released on social media to encourage young people to keep following the guidance, particularly over the Easter break. Organisations including LifeLab and Southampton Children’s Hospital at University Hospital Southampton, were awarded funding for the film projects through the Southampton City Council COVID-19 Innovations Grant. They then worked with young people in schools, colleges and youth groups to produce short films with the help of professional production companies.

Oliver s Army more than doubles fundraising target for life-changing outdoor activities centre

A THRILL-seeking 13-year-old with a profound brain injury has smashed his target on a campaign to save the charity which has changed his life. Oliver Voysey appeared in the Daily Echo last week asking readers to join Oliver s Calvert Army, his crowdfunding appeal to help save the Calvert Trust s Lake District activity centre for people with disabilities. Many readers donated and others joined him in a series of 13 themed challenges to mark him becoming a teenager. Poppy and Alice Menzies and Jessica Snell took part in an international zoom fitness session in their homes in Southampton and Brussels as part of the fundraiser.
