At 16 years old, Michael Loving Jr. was a caretaker for his six younger siblings, a top student at his high school and a great athlete on his basketball team in Phoenix, according to his family. His mom, Twyla Boatley, told The Arizona Republic that Loving was a model student and a respectful teenager who always helped and put others first. “He’s just a very caring, loving person. He doesn’t even have to know you to help you,” she said.
