Two Ontario moms have developed a rental toy subscription service that they say will reduce waste and keep kids away from the harmful chemicals in plastics.
A recent study by the University of Toronto found that cancer-causing chemicals were found in 87 per cent of household objects, with something called short chain chlorinated paraffins being found most commonly in plastic toys. The revelation sent the new mother on a deep dive search for alternatives.
Children often outgrow their toys quickly. Two moms wanted to address that, so they started a toy rental business. The founders of the Toy Exchange Club say the goal is to reduce clutter, but also to be more sustainable.
