Singleton Seeks to Make Marijuana Dispensary Ownership More Accessible to Minorities, Women and Disabled

By TAPINTO BORDENTOWN STAFF Credits: TAPinto.net File Photo December 21, 2020 at 8:24 AM TRENTON, NJ  In an effort to make minority ownership of medical cannabis dispensaries more accessible, the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday advanced legislation sponsored by State Senator Troy Singleton to remove certain restrictions on ownership. Current law provides that, subject to certain exceptions, no entity may hold more than one medical cannabis cultivator, manufacturer or dispensary permit.   The bill, S-2875, would establish a new ownership exception to expand access to investments for women, minority and disabled-veteran owned businesses. The exception would allow an investor, investor group, or fund that provides significant financial or technical assistance or the significant use of intellectual property to an applicant for a medical cannabis dispensary permit that has been certified as a minority, women, or disabled-veterans business, to own up to 40 percent interest

Byram tables Tomahawk Lake application over parking, traffic questions

Michael Kolody, the engineer representing Tomahawk Lake, said the updated plan includes moving the fee collection area farther down the main entrance road to contain any vehicle backup within park property. Lynne Wallace-Gallo, part of the waterpark s family ownership group, said the park has increased the number of collectors along the route to expedite the process. Kolody said the park would be willing to widen the road since ownership shares the board s desire to avoid major backups into the community. Their concern about the traffic is virtually the same as yours. They don t like having patrons that can t get into the park, he said. They want to have them come in and park, and if the suggestion (is) adding lanes along the main entrance way to increase the stacking along there  which I must say is not a bad idea  then we ll certainly do it.
