THE developer behind the transformation of Northwich s former Burton store are set to take advantage of a heritage scheme. The as of yet, unnamed Cheshire-based property development company, are currently renovating the Witton Street building and look set to join the line-up of shops who have already benefited from the Townscape Heritage scheme. The National Lottery Heritage Fund partnership grant scheme with Cheshire West and Chester Council aims to enhance the quality and visual appearance of shops in High Street and Witton Street, focusing on improvements to the traditional timber-framed buildings that give Northwich its unique character. Work has already begun on repairing and decorating the interior of 51-53 Witton Street, which previously housed Burton Menswear since 1923, in a bid to attract new tenants to the town.
