I even got to speak to East Lancashire’s ‘real-life ghost busters’ who told me all about the most haunted places in the region and the experiences they claimed to have in them.

A discovery to rival that of Tutankhamun s tomb – and it s right here on our doorstep

The discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in the pyramids of Egypt by Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter is famous throughout the world. Yet what George, Fiona and their team achieved has been described as one of the greatest pieces of archaeology of our time. Like Newgrange, Knowth is older than the pyramids, but stands out from every other comparable structure for its extraordinary art. As they made their way down the passage, Prof Eogan described passing a great anthropomorphic figure with two staring eyes. He told archaeologist and publisher Andrew Selkirk in 1970, they speculated the ghostly figure might have represented a guardian of the inner sanctum of the tomb.
