The Day - Old Lyme food share garden campaign nears completion - News from southeastern Connecticut

Published May 17. 2021 1:45PM | Updated May 17. 2021 4:35PM Old Lyme The perimeter of the planned Lyme-Old Lyme Food Share Garden was staked out earlier this month at Town Woods Park as part of a plan to have fresh produce available for food pantries by 2022. Organizers hope to raise $7,500 through a crowdsourcing campaign by May 26. The goal will allow the group to receive a matching grant from Sustainable CT. Food garden president Jim Ward said Monday the group was about $800 short of its target. The funds will be used on needs such as the installation of an 8-foot fence to protect future plants from deer and rodents along with tools and other equipment needed to prepare the garden beds for planting next year.
