A pothole turned into a sinkhole in the Friday Harbor Post Office parking lot, so much so that post office staff put a large yellow cone to keep cars from driving in it. The parking lot is maintained by the Post Office, not the Town of Friday Harbor, or San Juan County. Many community members were concerned about the hole, the effect it had on parking and difficulty navigating around both the hole and cone. A driver unfortunately ran over the cone before the hole was temporarily filled. According to Kim Frum, Post Office Communications Specialist for Western Washington, the hole will be permanently fixed at some point in the future.
