The City is looking to claim R1.4 million in damages, R1.3 million of which it is claiming from Gatvol Capetonian for protests during 2019. The EFF has also been issued with a letter of demand for more than R80 000 for protests in Brackenfell last year. The City of Cape Town has launched a R1.4 million civil claim against the Gatvol Capetonian group and the EFF for damage during protests. The City s legal representatives have issued a Letter of Demand to the EFF for damage to infrastructure in Brackenfell on 20 November 2020, the City said in a statement. More than R87 000 is being sought from the EFF to cover the costs of infrastructure repair.
