Basalt’s elected officials say the door remains open for a policy discussion with U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert but she has not come knocking in the five months since the invitation was extended.
Boebert’s office said the Congresswoman was busy assembling her staff and settling into her new role when first contacted by Basalt in January. While a meeting wasn’t arranged due to lack of follow-up by both sides, she would consider a discussion, the spokesman said.

Governments in the Roaring Fork Valley are projected to reap big windfalls from the American Rescue Plan Act, according to information provided by U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, a Democrat from Colorado.
President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus bill provides $350 billion in emergency funding for state and local governments. Neguse, who voted for the relief package, posted on his website the estimates of how much every county and municipality in Colorado will receive.
In the upper Roaring Fork Valley, Pitkin County will receive an estimated $3 million. Eagle and Garfield counties, with much larger populations, will reap substantially more. Eagle County will get an estimated $11 million. Garfield County is in line for $12 million.

Basalt Town Council members are using a carrot and a stick when it comes to interacting with embattled U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, the Rifle Republican who represents the 3rd Congressional District.
All seven members of the Basalt Town Council signed a letter Tuesday to U.S. House leaders of both parties that expresses “condemnation” of Boebert “based on her association with the right-wing groups that supported the insurrection of the Capitol Building” on Jan. 6.
