Vassalboro Town Manager Mary Sabins hopes to get communities talking to each other about options for law enforcement dispatch and 911 answering services. The state-run Augusta regional communications center will no longer provide these services to 22 municipalities after June 2019.
Since Coastal Resources LLC suspended operations May 28 after being unable to get a $14.7 million loan, area towns have been sending their trash to Waste Management-Crossroads Landfill in Norridgewock, but they hope Coastal will be back up and running with help from the Municipal Review Committee.

China, Vassalboro holding town meetings, elections next week
Vassalboro is conducting its town meeting Monday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m., while China is holding its annual town business meeting by referendum ballot June 8.
The Kennebec County neighboring towns of China and Vassalboro are holding town meetings next week.
China voters will hit the polls Tuesday, June 8, for the annual town business meeting in a referendum vote, while Vassalboro is conducting its in-person town meeting Monday, June 7, and will have an election the next day as well.
The Vassalboro full budget, including for the Vassalboro Community School, totals approximately $6.96 million.
