Road projects in Yellowstone could mean delays for park visitors

Road projects in Yellowstone could mean delays for park visitors MTN News and last updated 2021-04-18 14:50:01-04 Almost any route you plan to travel in Yellowstone National Park this spring and summer will be affected by a construction project. At the north gate to the park, there’s a lot going on. You can see the new entrance station being built there. There are three gates now, three lanes where traffic can come through instead of the one that the old structure has. And the road all the way back toward the old arch is being repaved. The work at the North Entrance is just one of three major road projects in the park this summer. The others include extensive repairs to the overpass on the road leading to Old Faithful. And then there’s the biggest project of all—completely replacing a road which has not seen major improvements in nearly 90 years.

Yellowstone Changing Some First-Come, First-Served Campgrounds To Reservation System

Slough Creek Campground in Yellowstone National Park, June 20, 2017. Public Domain Yellowstone National Park Tuesday said it will try out a new reservation system for two campgrounds and part of a third. Reservations for Mammoth and Slough Creek campgrounds, along with 60 percent of Pebble Creek, will go live on recreation.gov for the first time on Mar. 24 at 8 am. People will be able to book campsites up to six months in advance and reservations are expected to fill quickly, according to Yellowstone officials. Spokesperson Linda Veress says the new system is a direct response to public requests for a reservation system for campgrounds managed by the park itself.
