Kerala plans to turn Kannur into North Keralaâs tourism hub
As part of Kerala Tourismâs ambitious plan to pitchfork Kannur as North Keralaâs tourism hub, work will start soon on the INR 52.54 crore first-stage development of the Muzhappilangad Beach, one of the few drive-in beaches in Asia, and the picturesque Dharmadam Beach and Island projects, reports The Hindu Business Line.
The project at an overall cost of INR 233.72 crore is a key ingredient of Kerala Tourismâs aggressive campaign to promote the Malabar region and has immense potential to put Kannur on the world tourism map. Featured by the BBC among the top six best beaches for driving in the world, Dharmadam is surrounded by rivers on three sides and the Arabian Sea on one side. Dharmadam Island offers a picture-perfect view of the confluence of Anjarakandy and Thalassery Rivers.

Malanad-Malabar River Cruise to change Kerala s tourism face from February 15

Kerala Tourism is launching the pioneering Malanad-Malabar River Cruise project next week, rolling the first of the 11 types of boat-rides that provide individual thematic experiences and attracts tourists to the the state s less-explored areas. The inaugural cruise boat will enter the waters on February 15 as part of the innovative project that aims to brighten the waterways in the northern districts of Kannur and Kasaragod.
The first service will be on the route linking Parassinikkadavu and Pazhayangadi. The project will also help showcase the Malabar regions culture, rich with local legends and folk arts. The endeavour envisages 48 boat terminals and jetties along seven rivers across the districts of K

The Labour Movement museum, showcasing the history of the workers’ struggle from across the world, is getting ready in Alappuzha.
The museum is being set up by converting the New Model Cooperative Society Limited, previously run by the Bombay Company. A first of its kind in the country, it will portray, through pictures, documents and other exhibits, the class struggle and the history of Kerala’s labour movement, a statement issued by the Tourism Department said.
