Calls grew louder for the immediate release of Prothom Alo s investigative reporter Rozina Islam, who was arrested on Monday in a case filed under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
Journalists, different local and international organisations as well as many distinguished personalities of the country criticised and condemned the arrest yesterday.
Speakers, including aviation experts and top officials of the country's three airlines, today said the second wave of Covid-19 has hit the aviation sector at a time when it was trying to turn around, braving the losses caused by the first wave of the virus last year. The Covid-19 second wave has ravaged the commercial aviation at a time when it was trying to bounce back, braving the financial losses caused by the first wave, aviation experts and top airlines officials said yesterday.
They also said the second wave came as the final nail in the coffin for some airlines and demanded that the government waive different aeronautical, non-aeronautical and other charges for now so that the airlines can survive.
They made the demand at a webinar titled Bangladesh Aviation Sector Amid Pandemic: Challenges and Way Out , organised by Aviation and Tourism Journalists Forum.
Smoking free environment vital for development of tourism : Speakers

DHAKA, March 13, 2021 (BSS) – Speakers at a virtual meeting today called for ensuring hundred percent smoking free environments in hotel and restaurants for expansion of country’s tourism industry.
They observed that the existing tobacco control law needs to be amended in this regards, a press release said.
The opinion was stated at the program titled “Role of Media in Building Tobacco Free Bangladesh 2040” organized by Aviation and Tourism Journalists’ Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB) and Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM).
DAM Tobacco Control Project Coordinator Md. Shariful Islam presented the keynote paper while ATJFB President Nadira Kiron in the chair.
