Preservation of museums stressed May 18, 2021 LAHORE:Adviser to Chief Minister on Tourism & Archaeology Asif Mahmood has stressed on the need of preservation and restoration of treasure trove of the past placed at various museums. In his message regarding “International Museum Day”, today (Tuesday), he said the Punjab government had initiated a comprehensive project to establish new museums besides restoration of existing ones. “New museums established at Kalar Kahar and Gujrat while a state-of-the-art auditorium has been set up at Harappa museum”, he said. The International Council of Museums (ICOM) observed International Museum Day in 1977. The organisation chooses a different theme for the day and coordinates every year. Budget 2021-22 to focus on health, economy: minister

Lahore May 6, 2021 LAHORE:Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht has said that the fiscal year 2021-22 will be the year of rehabilitation and the universal health coverage programme would ensure health and the special development package for the industrial sector will ensure economic recovery. The minister while presiding over a pre-budget consultative meeting with leading economists under the Sub-National Governance Programme said that the problems faced in order to increase agricultural production and the provision of services in the relevant sectors will be solved. The development of agro-related industries will also be an important part of the future development agenda. Providing social security will also be the top priority of the Punjab government in the next budget, he added.

Ram Pyari Museum to open its doors to visitors Building is renovated by experts from Archaeology Directorate LAHORE: Ram Pyari Museum, Gujrat is all set to open its doors for the general public. Tourism and Archaeology Adviser to Chief Minister Asif Mehmood will chair the inaugural ceremony scheduled to be held today (Sunday). This masterpiece of the Victorian era has been renovated by the experts from Archaeology Directorate. As per the historical accounts, the Hindu contractor of Gujrat Sundar Das Chopra constructed this building in 1918 in his wife’s name Ram Pyari. The road where Ram Pyari Mahal is situated was also known as Ram Pyari road which is now called a circular road.
