A Toulon City Council member has resigned as he is facing federal child pornography charges while continuing to face state charges as well. 34-year-old Jason Musselman appeared in U.S. District Court for Central Illinois on Friday after being arrested on charges that accuse him of producing, distributing and possessing child pornography. Musselman was charged in Stark County in January with 9 felony counts of possessing sexually explicit images of a victim under the age of 13. The Mayor of Toulon told WMBD-TV that Musselman sent a letter resigning from the City Council on Monday. The federal complaint says that Illinois State Police and Home Security Investigations executed a search warrant on Mussleman, his residence, and electronic devices on Jan. 19, 2022. The warrant was obtained as part of ongoing child pornography investigation.
