hospital. they do have high powered assault rifles in their arms. we went to go get more information from them. they turned us away. erlanger asking us to stay across the street. this will be the media staging area for the rest of the day. we went up to approach ceo kevin spiegel with erlanger to get more information on the situation. he referred us to the chat chat police department. i know channel 3 reporter kelly mccarthy will be meeting with their public information officer shortly on amnicola highway to get more information. ten minutes ago mayor andy berke arrived and the two went inside the hospital at this time. just spoke with the mayor s public relations person. he will not be able for an interview at this time. he s inside erlanger waiting to meet with chattanooga police chief fred fletcher at which point we hope to get more information from both chief fletcher and from mayor andy berke. this is an officer involved shooting. possible that officer is inside this hospital gett
to six ambulances that arrived at erlanger hospital this morning after the shootings happened. there was a span of time after 10:50 a.m. central time when this all began. and then in the following hour that s when those that were wounded began showing up at erlanger. a these are photos coming in from the eyewitness at the hair academy. they were then let go but she actually shot this video pulling away from the strip mall. that is the original and first location of where the shooting started in chattanooga today. there are two different locations as we were hearing from pete there talking about the stretch and the geography. i believe it s 6 miles separating the two different facilities that have to do with the u.s. military, one being the recruitment center, the other being the u.s. marine/navy combined center. forgive me if i messed up pete s
is. pete reported he was it s over. he s deceased or wounded. but if he s wounded he s likely at the hospital as well, or another hospital if he s deceased. crime scene. a lot of bullets. possibly a body of the shooter. jim we are still waiting for authorities to give a press briefing on that especially when it comes to the shooter. francis, i think you have an update from the chattanooga police. that s right. coming frup their twitter account. saying that the active shooter situation is over. details fourth coming. again, official word this situation is over. no ipd indication on the fate of the gunman here. these live or dead. he or she is alive or dead. updating on the situation on areas around that area. the two shooting scenes that appear to be on lockdown that includes chattanooga state community college, appears to be on lockdown. same with the health department governor s residence as well
which is consistent with what the other information we have is. but you see that combined armed forces career center most of these military recruiting centers around the country in shopping centers are like that. they don t have their own separate ones. they re combined ones. you go inside and there s an army desk navy nesk an air force desk. that s the that s where we believe the thing started. but no one was hurt there. uh-huh. the injuries all seem to be at the second facility. let s go to wrcb. their reporter outside of the hospital is giving an update. can we listen into that? we are still waiting. we are minutes away from the press conference to begin. we re all searching for shred of good news out of this. from the best we can tell this is an isolated incident apparently. so we re back this is wrcb
gunman who fired the shots in both places. and that as i just said one police officer was wounded in the leg. you ve seen the affiliate reporter who is there at the hospital where we believe a total of five people now were injured. a police officer and four people from the marine corps. pete, the other thing that you can discount is the bradley square mall incident. that s where someone had been reported that there were shots there. that is not true. officials, federal and state officials, say they checked that out and there were no reports of shooting no actual shots fired at the shopping mall. pete, as you understand it though, who would take priority in investigating this? wouldn t this be considered federal property? well, it depends. i mean i think the quick answer is it s going to be the local officials who are doing it. that s always been the case here when there were you know i come to mind of series of shootings at military recruiting
