Five people have been sentenced to death and three others have been jailed by a court in saudi arabia over the murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi last year. Khashoggi was a prominent critic of the saudi government. He was killed when he went to the saudi consulate in istanbul. A United Nations investigator who carried out an inquiry into his murder has criticised the trial saying that the hitmen had been convicted, but the masterminds behind his death have walked free.
