Revolution of the Daleks is set to air on New Year’s Day, and The Doctor herself Jodie Whittaker has revealed that knowing Bradley Walsh’s Graham and Tosin Cole’s Ryan were leaving the show made her sad the entire time they were filming.
“I was absolutely beside myself,” Whittaker told EW. “I don’t have a poker face. It’s my actual job, so I should be better at it. But I remember when they called wrap on that day, Tosin was like, ‘Calm Down!’ I’d gone, I’d absolutely gone. In a way, it’s just reflective of the time we’ve had and this journey. I’m really lucky. Doctor Who is nearly back on our screens after news that production disruption due to COVID-19 would lead to a shorter thirteenth season disappointed fans last month.

Doctor Who’s twelfth series ended with Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor locked away by the Judoon in prison, and this special is set ten months afterwards. Revolution of the Daleks, showrunner Chris Chibnall has provided an update on the status of the thirteenth season of the long-running sci-fi series.
Taking to his semi-regular Doctor Who Magazine column Production Notes (via RadioTimes), Chibnall wrote that while filming is progressing on the latest season, the new restrictions in place as a result of the ongoing global health crisis have provided another layer of challenges to the production.
