TOMS RIVER - Will pardoned GOP leader George R. Gilmore return to his powerful post as Ocean County Republican chairman? George Gilmore is an extremely talented political leader, which is why the Ocean County Republican organization under his leadership was one of the most if not the most vaunted GOP county operations in the state, said Ben Dworkin, director of the Rowan Institute for Public Police & Citizenship at Rowan University. This full pardon unleashes him to get back involved at the same level. We have seen him play a role behind the scenes over the past couple of years. We can surely expect that he will reassert himself in Republican politics.
