Relaxation in tough rules as coronavirus infection rates fall

19 Murcia region municipalities will be able to reopen their bar and restaurant terraces at 75% capacity from this Wednesday(February 17).
As COVID-19 infection rates fall, Murcia City and Cartagena are amongst the list of areas where the hospitality sector can resume trading.
The 19 areas are Murcia City, Cartagena, Lorca, Molina de Segura, Jumilla, Moratalla, Calasparra, Bullas, Mula, Campos del Ría, Albudeite, Fortuna, Alguazas, San Javier, Santomera, Las Torres de Cotillas, Ceutí, San Pedro del Pinatar and Caravaca.
They join another 20 municipalities that resumed terrace service last week including Los Alcazares, Torre Pacheco and Mazarron.

The total number of admissions falls but the situation in hospitals “continues to be very worrying”, with 1,012 patients and 175 in ICUs, which exceeds 140% of their structural capacity
The last 24 hours has again seen more than two dozen deaths in the province for the sixth day in a row. In the last 24 hours 29 people have died, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,147, 171 in the last week.
On Tuesday 16 men and 13 women between 59 and 95 years of age died. Fourteen were from Murcia, nine from Cartagena, two from Caravaca and the rest from Bullas, Torre Pacheco, Yecla and Jumilla.

Civil Guard bust cocaine and marijuana gang in Vega Baja and Torre Pacheco
AN ongoing drugs investigation by the Civil Guard has lead to an anti-drugs bust of trafficking cocaine and marijuana in the Vega Baja and Torre Pacheco.
The Civil Guard Pilar de la Horadada took charge of investigations following the discovery of a marijuana plantation in October 2020, that flagged up a criminal organisation was operating in the provinces of Alicante and Murcia.
5,000 marijuana plants were discovered in a greenhouse in October by the Local Police of Pilar de la Horadada that lead to the Civil Guard making further investigations.

Mario Perez from Los Alcazares claims he is snubbed by Murcia president

LOS Alcazares is the only part of the Murcia region left with perimeter restrictions in a situation described as ‘shameful’ by its mayor, Mario Perez.
The Murcia government announced today(December 21) that travelling in and out of Torre Pacheco will be permitted as new COVID-19 case levels have fallen.
That leaves the neighbouring Mar Menor community of Los Alcazares out on its own in having local travel rules.
Mario Perez attacked the Murcia president, Fernando Lopez Miras, for not contacting him to talk through what is happening.
