This year’s Toronto Black Film Festival is no different, though its 2020 edition had the distinction of being one of the last big fests to take place before COVID-19 took hold. “We were so fortunate,” says Fabienne Colas, founder and director of the festival, whose eighth edition ran last year from Feb. 12 through Feb. 17. “We were welcoming Spike Lee, we were all fired up, it was a full house. There was no social distancing.”
