Climate discussions between Canada and the U.S. continued Wednesday, as Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson met virtually with U.S. special climate envoy John Kerry. The meeting came a day after Prime Minister Trudeau talked climate change with U.S. President Joe Biden during the first bilateral meeting between the two leaders.
Wilkinson said the meeting included a discussion on how both countries can increase their 2030 emissions reduction targets.
“We’ll be coming forward with a target that essentially fully examines all of those issues, and is as ambitious as we possibly can be, while being realistic with Canadians that it is achievable,” he said following the meeting.
