the country. it is remarkable to me, the level of support and volunteers and just kindness that is being extended to people in our state who need it now more than ever. and we will never forget that. you know, you can t stop these storms from coming. they re getting more dangerous, more deadly, it seems, by the year. what you can do, though, is try to build safe spaces, safer shelters and bunkers to try and ride these things out. what is the state looking at or considering right now to make sure that the people of the state, a, get the warning, even in the middle of the night, if there s a tornado coming, and this one have a safe place to go to ride out that storm? what i can tell you is the communities that i have been in across the western part of the state, we have heard of community buildings, churches,
tornado coming. so from what i was informed, he knew it was coming and he said he just had he couldn t just, you know, run and get to shelter. he had to tell someone about it because there s still people outside coming into the building and so from what i was told he tried to rush out and get as many people in to safety as possible. carley: he died a hero. absolutely. ashley: so jeff bezos, he did tweet sympathy for everything that happened at that warehouse. he said the news from edwardsville is tragic. we are heart broken over the loss of our teammates there and our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones. i just want you to speak on how clayton was with had his coworkers, with his friends, and if you were at all surprised that he more or less sheltered and covered people, people he
find. but it was just really it s a shocking thing to walk up on. it is. and i know that the focus right now is to try to find survivors and help those victims. but there are a lot of unanswered questions. the warnings had come through the day on there could be tornados. why were there so many people there at 9:30 at night when they knew tornados could be coming through and clearly there was no basement, right? i don t believe. i ve never been inside the factory before it was blown down. you know, they were giving warnings and things all day, generally factories just don t shut down because there may be a tornado coming, possibly, i m assuming. they were just doing their normal shift work and, you know, they had probably had the news on and different things so they knew it was coming and they knew to get to the interior part of it, according to one guy that i talked to. they were trying to get to the best location in the place, not knowing it was going i m
power of this tornado. but what s really incredible is i want to take you over to this house. this house built in 1912, or 112 years old, i m sorry. it looks like things are okay. but take a look at this. the tornado moved it a good 8 inches off the foundation. now, as the tornado was coming, standing out here in the yard watching it come was brenda rogers with her husband. initially, they thought, well, there s not going to be a problem. this tornado is going to turn, it s going to turn. they kept thinking, it s going to turn. and now we come up here to brenda, who s been spending the day here cleaning up after this mess. brenda, come on over here. first of all, i m glad you re okay and your husband is okay. take me through, if you can. you re in the front yard, you see the tornado coming, you eventually decide to come in the house. where what did you do? where did you go? then we went in through here and we know that the laundry
