A member of UConn’s Technology Incubation Program since 2017, Ashley Kalinauskas’ veterinary pharmaceutical startup Torigen Pharmaceuticals Inc. is getting ready to venture out on its own.
The company, which is developing a cancer vaccine for animals, has raised $7.7 million to date, most of it in the last two years, and recently signed a 9,090-square-foot lease in Farmington, at 6 Executive Dr., where it will move its operations by summer.
The Greater Hartford office market continued to “block and tackle” over the past 20 months, with landlords and tenants adapting to the changing tides of COVID-19.
By the second quarter 2020 shutdown, landlords and tenants pushed ahead and focused on business as usual. By year-end 2020, tenants began to explore work-from-home options and reevaluate office space needs.
Landlords reacted by offering attractive incentives to tenants improvement packages, rent concessions and/or flexible lease terms due to softening office demand.
Farmington-based veterinary biotech company Torigen Pharmaceuticals Inc. has signed a distribution deal with California-based Victor Medical Company, months after a $3.5 million fundraising haul.
Under the deal, Victor Medical will distribute educational materials to veterinarians about Torigen's VetiVax product, a cancer vaccine for dogs, which is currently in the testing stage. Victor Medical will also put on webinars and other events for veterinarians and others in the veterinary field.
