People who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 can now drop their masks and social distancing at most indoor locations, and the guidelines suggest it is safe for all Americans vaccinated or not to go maskless outdoors.  Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Friday that state health officials would follow the CDC s recommendations on mask wearing, and issued an official public health order late Friday that outlines what s allowed and what s not. 

Shot in the arm for teens getting first COVID vaccines in Detroit

With the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention s approval Wednesday of Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccines for those age 12 to 15, just under 500,000 more people in Michigan are now eligible for the vaccine, said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Michigan s chief deputy director for health and a mother of two children. And, Khaldun said, children also can get other vaccinations at the same time as they get their COVID-19 shot with their medical provider. On Thursday, parents and teens headed out to vaccination clinics in metro Detroit to get their first of two shots. Dia Berry of Dearborn Heights brought his twin 14-year-old daughters, Sirine and Elissar Berry, to a Walgreens pharmacy on Ecorse Road in Taylor on Thursday morning to get their first doses.
