COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Friday and Weekend in Yakima Valley
COVID-19 vaccine clinics will be open in the Yakima Valley this weekend. Officials at Astria Health says a vaccine clinic is set for Friday, February 26 at KDNA radio station at 121 Sunnyside Avenue in Granger from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available to Phase 1A and Phase 1B-Tier 1 Community members on a first come first serve basis so no appointment is needed. In Toppenish also on Friday, The Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is hosting a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Toppenish Middle School. Call (509) 865-5600 to register.
City, County, State, Federal Offices Closed Monday
Monday is a national holiday to recognize the life and accomplishments of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. As a result of the holiday city, county, state and federal offices will be closed. That includes banks and the post office so no mail delivery on Monday.
If you live in the city of Yakima and you ride the bus there will be no bus service on Monday in the city but garbage service will continue as scheduled Monday. If you get your exercise by enjoying the pool Lions Pool will remain open on Monday.
Events Planned in Yakima to Honor Martin Luther King Jr.
The city of Yakima will celebrate the life and accomplishments of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. next week. The theme to Yakima s 36th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration is “Power in the People!.Freedom, Equality, Prosperity.” A food distribution at the Henry Beauchamp Community Center is set for Friday before the national holiday on Monday.
On Monday two events are planned. The Lower Valley Peace Drive will be held 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. starting at Toppenish Middle School.
In Yakima the annual Peace Walk has been cancelled but a Martin Luther King Jr. Virtual Celebration will be held on ZOOM from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
