Former Wānaka man and artist Topher Straus went from swimming in the Mediterranean to running for an air shelter within hours of arriving in Israel last weekend.
The artist had taken a spontaneous trip to Tel Aviv to work on a painting for an upcoming convention. But, within hours of his landing, the attacks began.
An artist from Golden, Colorado narrowly escaped war in Israel over the weekend. Topher Straus was on the beach when he heard sirens and saw missiles in the sky.
