What a huge breaking news story were following for you at the top of the hour. Robert mueller the Special Counsel in charge of the investigation is coming out at the department of justice. He is scheduled to make a statement on his investigation at the top of the next hour. His first Public Comments on the probe since he started as Special Counsel more than two years ago. A full team of reporters and experts who have been following this investigation throughout. Let me start with ken delaney in
our washington bureau. Ken, this is someone throughout the investigation did a remarkable job of keeping things under wrap and stopping any leaks from coming out. We have not seen him. He is so
south carolina senator lindsey graham, and even trump s own coup lawyer, rudy giuliani. the district attorney fani willis says a decision on possible charges based on that granary report is imminent. now, we likely will not know who, if anyone, will be charged this week. but we will learn a lot more than we currently know. fulton county judge robert mcburney has ordered the introduction and the conclusion from the report to be made public on thursday. that will likely provide our first look into the major top line findings of this investigation. da willis will also make public a section of the report describing concerns that some of those many witnesses may have lied to the grand jury. and that s just the tip of the iceberg, in terms of what is to come. tamar hallerman has been covering the fulton county probe into trump s election interference for the atlanta journal-constitution. and she joins me now. tamar, thanks so much for coming on the show. what more do we know about what s com
and conspiracy to defraud the u.s. government. in addition to criminal referrals against trump, the panel may recommend charges against some of his closest allies. cnn has learned that the committee is weighing the referrals from former mchief of staff mark meadows, john eastman, rudy giuliani and jeffrey clark. the committee also plans to reveal its decision on how to home republican lawmakers, members of the house, accountable for defying the panel s subpoenas, congressional subpoenas. including the house gop leader and would-be speaker kevin mccarthy. the committee says the justification for these dramatic and historic steps will be spelled out in the pages of its final report. panel members we re told will approve that before today. and release an executive summary with top line findings from the extensive committee. the committee s full report on the january 6 attack will be available on wednesday.
reporter: chairman bennie thompson saying the committee will lay out its top line findings in the meeting but plans to share a summary of the sprawling investigation, and perhaps even the bulk of the report if it s finished in time. we have made decisions that criminal referrals will happen. reporter: the committee also planning to reveal who they think should be held accountable. with referrals for possible state bar discipline, for campaign finance violation, referrals to the house ethics committee, and referrals to the department of justice for possible criminal prosecution. we have left no doubt, none, that donald trump led an effort to up end american democracy that directly resulted in the violence of january 6th. reporter: lawmakers especially focused in their hearings and public appearses on trump s potential incumbent cupp able. i think culpability. i think he s guilty of a crime. hee knew what was happening prior to january 6th.
no, i think it s very clear he left it to congress and we have to exercise our powers. and again remember the key point of these hearings now is to break the lies that we ve heard from the attorney general and the president and to show to the american people what the report found about the president s obstructions of justice, about the russians interfering with the election, about the president s obstruction of justice, about the 37 indictments and about the president repeatedly telling people to lie to investigators and to the american people. people have to know that. nancy pelosi just sent this memo out to democratic house members this morning. it was literally hot off the press when it got to me because we got a copy of it, and it s basically how she thinks democrats should talk about this after the fact. just what you re saying, remind people of the sort of top line findings of this. did you help craft this memo?
