Shooting defendant s hearing delayed, police attempting to contact other man charged

A preliminary hearing for a Schellsburg man accused of shooting at a group of activists, striking one man with birdshot, last year has been continued until next month, while police are still attempting to make contact with the other man who allegedly exchanged gunfire. The preliminary hearing for Terry L. Myers, 51, of Schellsburg, was continued from May 26 to June 9, according to online court dockets. Myers is facing a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault and dozens of misdemeanors for allegedly firing a shotgun at a crowd of activists marching from Milwaukee to Washington D.C. last August after the group had stopped in a parking lot on his father’s property along Route 30 in Juniata Township.

From Mirror staff reports Two men are facing felony charges in connection to a Bedford County shooting, which occurred as a group of activists traveled through Bedford in August, court documents stated. Bedford County District Attorney Lesley Childers-Potts announced Friday her office filed criminal charges against Schellsburg resident Terry L. Myers, 51, and Orsino V. Thurman, 37, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Myers was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Tonya Osman on more than 40 charges, including aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment, court documents state. Thurman was charged with eight crimes, including aggravated assault, prohibited possession of a firearm, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Two charged in Juniata Township shooting involving activists

SCHELLSBURG — A Schellsburg man and an activist from Milwaukee were both charged with aggravated assault and other charges on Friday, more than eight months after the two allegedly exchanged gunfire during an altercation along Lincoln Highway in Juniata Township. Terry L. Myers, 51, of Schellsburg, was arraigned before District Judge Tonya Osman on one count of aggravated assault — a second degree felony — as well as 19 counts of both simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, one count of criminal mischief and harassment. Orsino V. Thurman, 37, of Milwaukee, was charged with a second degree felony count of aggravated assault, a first-degree felony count of possession of a prohibited firearm, two counts of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person and summary citations of criminal mischief and defiant trespass.

ifredregill@altoonamirror.com Police arrested a Bedford County charter school teacher Thursday after discovering several inappropriate emails he allegedly sent to a 12-year-old student, Bedford County Court documents stated. Buffalo Mills-resident Robert L. Sines, 46, was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Tonya Osman on charges of sexual contact with a student, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and unlawful contact of a minor, according to court documents. Pennsylvania State Police reviewed several emails Sines allegedly sent one of his students in February and March. The emails were revealed by an independent investigation conducted by Hope for Hyndman charter school in Hyndman, according to state police.
