Two Cadiz men already in jail on murder charges saw new indictments on drug-related charges returned by the recent session of the Trigg County Grand Jury.
43-year-old Jonathan McCoy, whose address was listed as the Christian County Jail, was indicted on charges of tampering with physical evidence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, making a false statement to receive benefits, display of an altered or illegal registration plate, and being a persistent felony offender.
According to the indictment, McCoy committed the charges on September 22, 2020, which was six days after the death of Ilene Barnett. McCoy was indicted in February on charges of kidnapping, murder, second-degree arson, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse in connection to Barnett’s death.
