Marshall Islands president arrives for five-day visit

Marshall Islands President David Kabua yesterday arrived in Taiwan for a five-day state visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. It is Kabua’s first visit to the nation since he assumed office in January 2020, the ministry said in a statement. During the visit, President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) is to welcome Kabua and his delegation with a military salute and confer him the Order of Brilliant Jade with Grand Cordon for his role in enhancing ties between Taiwan and its Pacific ally. Lai departs for Castro's inauguration

Vice President William Lai (賴清德) yesterday left for Honduras via the US, saying that the visit shows Taiwan’s commitment to improving its relationship with the Central American ally. Lai is leading a delegation on behalf of President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) to attend the inauguration of Honduran president-elect Xiomara Castro. Lai is to return on Saturday.
