According to Todd Froberg, the DNR’s big-game program coordinator, as of Tuesday, firearms season hunters had killed approximately 106,500 deer in all “series” permit areas statewide.
“We’ve got a lot of deer in southeastern Minnesota. I don’t think that’s changed despite our varying bag limits over the last three to five years related to (CWD) management."
According to Mike Szymanski, migratory game bird management supervisor for NDG&F, the department’s 76th annual breeding duck survey conducted in May indicated the state’s 2023 duck index was the 23rd highest on record.
