SKIPTON Knights took on one of the strongest teams in the Merit League at the weekend and came out on top. The Akkies- a well-established club who play out of Leeds Mods RUFC, just like the Knights came with a big squad but player /coach Darren Greenwood knew how key defence would be on the day. The game started with the Knights completing their sets and putting pressure on the Akkies backline. On the fifth and last kick from Josh Nkwo, the ball bounced off an Akkies player s hands and straight in to the hands of Chris Stead to powered over and Dean Barritt converted the two.
