Robert Weber was found by Mr Perrett near a dam on his Kilkivan property more than two weeks after the 58-year-old went missing, and despite the dam having already been investigated during comprehensive searches led by police. Picture: Michele Perrett Mr Weber was last seen with Nessie leaving a Kilkivan hotel in a white Ford Falcon on January 6. He and his companion had become separated and the dog was thought lost, at least until late Sunday night.

Dog turns up a week after lost owner rescued in Queensland bushland

“We continued to keep an eye out for her, but we had pretty much given up on finding her alive. But then late Sunday afternoon, the dog just wandered into the home on the property. “The dog is in safe hands now, she’s been fed and watered, and although she lost a fair amount of body weight, there’s no physical injuries at all.” Perrett said Weber was elated to hear Nessie had also survived when he called him to tell him the good news. “He was very pleased, he didn’t expect a call like that at all, saying we’d found the dog. He was as surprised as I was, because he had almost given up on finding her alive.”

Robert Weber, 58, went missing after last being seen leaving a hotel in Kilkivan with his dog on his way to Dululu near Rockhampton on January 6. His car got stuck in dirt on a farm road he was unfamiliar with shortly after leaving the hotel. Police launched a search for Weber after he was reported missing but it was suspended on January 20 after volunteers and police searched bushland, rivers, dams, and steep terrain in Kilkivan.
