NEW YORK (CNS) The following are capsule reviews of theatrical movies on network and cable television the week of March 13. Please note that televised versions may or may not be edited for language, nudity, violence and sexual situations.
Remember the 2009 TV drama series Unforgiven?
Written by Happy Valley s Sally Wainwright, it was set in Yorkshire and starred Suranne Jones as a convicted criminal.
David Chase’s Many Saints of Newark feels like a double-episode flashback for HBO’s hit series The Sopranos, with a strong cast playing younger versions of key characters, and plenty of Easter eggs. But for viewers who aren’t steeped in Sopranos lore, it’s a pretty lumpy movie. Starring Alessandro Nivola, Ray Liotta, Michael Imperioli, Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Leslie Odom Jr., and James Gandolfini’s son Michael as Tony Soprano. In theaters and on HBO Max now.
