LOS ANGELES (CNS) - ABC7 won awards for large-market “Best Television 60 Minute Newscast and “Best Television Daytime Newscast, while NBC4 won for “Best Television 30 Minute Newscast during the 71st Annual Golden Mike Awards.
In the radio categories, KNX-AM won for “Best Newscast Over 15 Minutes and KFI-AM was named “Best Radio Newscast Under 15 Minutes.
The awards were presented Saturday night by the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California in a virtual format. The Golden Mike Awards is the longest running broadcast news awards show in the United States.
In the small-market categories, KBAK in Bakersfield won for “Best Television 60 Minute Newscast while KFTV in Fresno won for “Best Television 30 Minute Newscast. KBFX in Bakersfield won for “Best Television Daytime Newscast.
KABC-TV, Los Angeles won the large market “Best Television 60 Minute Newscast” and “Best Television Daytime Newscast” Golden Mikes, and KNBC, Los Angeles won the “Best Television 30 Minute Newscast” award during the 71st Annual Golden Mike Awards®.
KFI-AM, Los Angeles was honored with the award for “Best Radio Newscast Under 15 Minutes,” in the major market category, while KNX-AM, Los Angles won the award for “Best Newscast Over 15 Minutes.”
Presidential Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci received the RTNA’s “Freedom of Information Award,” and KTTV’s Tony McEwing, KNBC’s Patrick Healy, and KNX’s Diane Thompson were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards in the show.

LOS ANGELES - Longtime FOX 11 anchor Tony McEwing was honored and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California during the 71st Annual Golden Mike Awards this weekend.
The nonprofit organization held the ceremony on March 13, an evening dedicated to honoring excellence in journalism.
McEwing s just one of those guys who makes it look easy, and he always has. He was a fixture in Sacramento for a dozen years before moving south to anchor the new FOX 11 Morning News in June 1993.
