The garden will celebrate its 99th year from approximately Memorial Day through mid-June, depending on the weather. The nearly 800 plants produce up to 10,000 flowers at peak bloom, and it is believed to be the largest collection of heirloom peonies in North America. Tree peonies always bloom first and usually in April, according to the garden’s website. Warmer weather makes the plans bloom early, and if the arrival of summer is met with thunderstorms and windy hot days, the season can end quickly.
