He was the first officer to arrive to the scene. He said the child s mother had pulled the baby out of the pool and they were both in the driveway.
The second deputy, Tony Egoville, arrived shortly after.
Both deputies immediately started CPR, the longest either of them had ever performed it.
The 10-month-old eventually regained consciousness and was intubated in the hospital for more than a week.

On Nov. 28, deputies responded to a Venice home where a 10-month-old baby accidentally drowned in her family s pool.
Eight deputies arrived at the home, but the first ones there were Deputies Mike Nickerson and Tony Egoville.
When they arrived, the baby, Charlee, had no pulse.

VENICE, Fla. - Two deputies are being hailed as heroes after they came to the rescue of a 10-month-old baby, saving her from drowning in a Venice pool.
Deputies Mike Nickerson and Tony Egoville were first on the scene, and found 10-month-old Charlee with no pulse.
The two deputies performed CPR inside the home and in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. It is the longest Deputies Nickerson and Egoville have ever performed CPR in their careers, the sheriff s office said.

Mom had pulled the baby out of the pool and they were both in the drive-way. I immediately ran up and grabbed the baby and immediately looked for something I could set the baby on to start compressions.
