All up and down the Jersey Coast and in every bay and estuary in between is teeming with stripers. Striped bass are making their way up or down the rivers and bays and along the shoreline as they do every spring and fall. I had the pleasure of chasing after them on Wednesday afternoon in the Raritan Bay with Captain Tony Bartone of Ark Sport Fishing - NJ.

The bite has been happening in the later afternoon and evening and it s been ferocious. Fish up to 40 pounds and some even bigger have been caught on live bait (bunker), artificial lures like plugs and even fly rods. This run can last into June depending on the water temperature, the weather, etc. Lots of experienced fisherman have gone their whole lives without catching a striper. You need to know where to go and what to use, and be ready to go out at any time.

The community Covid-19 case identified in Melbourne poses a low public health risk to New Zealand and the bubble will remain open, Dr Ashley Bloomfield says.
“Many hundreds of people” in Australia could have been exposed to a coronavirus-infected Melbourne man on a train on Friday night. The state of Victoria’s Health Minister Martin Foley said the Covid-19 infected man s trip on a Melbourne Flinders St to Craigieburn train coincided with the end of the game between Richmond and Geelong.

Melbourne s Flinders St station during a six-week lockdown in July last year. The city’s latest Covid-19 case caught a train that was bound for the central-city station on Friday night.
Genomic sequencing on the Melbourne man s case of COVID-19 supports the theory that the infection was acquired in an Adelaide quarantine hotel.
Health officials previously stated the man in his 30s may have picked up the virus at the Playford Hotel due to another person testing positive in the adjacent room.
Other theories included a very long incubation period. Genomic sequencing results on this new case have been reported to the Department, and they support the hypothesis that the Victorian case acquired COVID-19 in an interstate hotel quarantine facility, a Department of Health statement read.

GPs play a ‘crucial’ role in overcoming vaccine hesitancy 06/05/2021|2min
Former AMA president Tony Bartone says GPs play a “crucial” role in helping people to overcome vaccine hesitancy because they are able to tailor advice to the needs of their patients.
“Most people want to talk to their GP because their GP knows them, knows their conditions, knows the specificness of their concerns and is able to tailor that advice,” he said.

No ‘significant clue’ yet to original transmission source for NSW COVID case06/05/2021|5min
Former AMA president Tony Bartone says the “wildcard in the pack” for the COVID case reported in a Sydney man on Wednesday is the fact there is no “significant clue” to the transmission source.
“Clearly that’s really the wildcard in the pack,” he said.
“Normally there’s a fairly significant clue as to the source of where that infection was.
“No overseas travel, no direct link to hotel quarantine, not a healthcare worker so it really does mean it has been picked up in the community and we don’t know how many people it’s moved on to from the original source case.
