Hawaiʻi Island housing inventory is being squeezed up and down the market, and that includes rentals to everyday people. On Kauaʻi in June, the median home sale price swooped above $1.1 million, up 82% from last year. On the other end of the island chain, Hawaiʻi Island s median home sale price for June was $472,500, up 26%. Jared Gates is Hawaiʻi Island Board of Realtors president and broker in charge at Big Island Homes and Land Company, based in Hilo. Gates says Puna is the hotspot for sales activity with new homes in the $300,000 to $500,000 range.

Sussex people urged to join coronavirus clinical trial

People in West Sussex are being urged to join a clinical trial investigating coronavirus. Friday, 22nd January 2021, 4:27 pm Following a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, people in the county with early symptoms are urged to take part in the trial to improve care and reduce hospital admissions, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) said. The PRINCIPLE trial is recruiting people with early Covid-19 symptoms who are aged 50 and over with underlying health conditions and otherwise healthy people aged 65 years and over. The NIHR-funded study, which is led by an Oxford University team, is evaluating whether certain commonly used medicines may prevent patients in the community with Covid-19 from becoming more unwell and needing hospital care.
